Dr Alex Houen

University Senior Lecturer and Fellow of Pembroke College

I am based in the Faculty of English, where I teach modern literature. My film and screen studies interests include British, American, and Italian films about war, sacrifice, martyrdom and terrorism. My publications in this area include a co-edited collection of essays entitled Martyrdom and Terrorism: Pre-Modern to Contemporary Perspectives, and a forthcoming monograph on Sacrifice and Modern War literature. Please note that I am on research leave until April 2016 and so will be unable to do MPhil or PhD supervision until after that time.
