Choix Goncourt 2025 – Join the Reading Groups

For the seventh time, the prestigious Prix Goncourt (the French equivalent of the Booker Prize) is coming to Cambridge. The University will once again take part in the Choix Goncourt UK, alongside 15 other universities across the country.

To select the Cambridge choice, we will be forming student reading groups that will meet 3–4 times to discuss the four shortlisted novels. Our final decision will be shared at a meeting held at the French Embassy in London on 27 March 2025, where a single student delegate will represent Cambridge.

Copies of each of the four nominated books will be provided (four sets of each), and they will also be available digitally via the Institut français Culturethèque platform.

Who can take part?

All interested students (Undergraduate, MPhil, PhD) are welcome. Please note that participation requires a commitment to read and discuss the novels within a short timeframe. The emphasis, however, will be on collective and enjoyable discussion rather than formal literary analysis.

Sign up by Wednesday 19 November For enquiries, please contact Dr Christophe Gagné at cg238@cam.ac.uk.
