MMLL (Italian)-History Degree Masterclass for A-Level students.

After careful consideration, it has been decided that the Italian History JH Masterclass will be cancelled on Thursday 19th March 2020 due to concerns surrounding the developing situation with coronavirus. This has been a difficult decision and will no doubt be disappointing news for those who have already registered. The health and safety of our visitors, staff, students and volunteers is our most important priority and we therefore feel that this is the most appropriate course of action at this time.

MMLL (Italian)-History Degree Masterclass for A-Level students. An opportunity to discover how to combine the study of History with Italian.

This subject specific, interactive Masterclass is suitable for Year 11 and Year 12/13 school students who are considering applying for a degree in History, with an interest in Modern Languages, Italian in particular.

The Italian peninsula is one of the pivotal centres in the history of the West. Studying the languages and cultures of Italy alongside the History degree programme, offers a great opportunity to engage with understanding the past and present in international contexts, as well as exploring one of the most vibrant European nations of today.

The Masterclass will offer a range of sessions on History (European and Italian), and Italian culture and language, showcasing the exciting opportunity to explore how it is possible and extremely interesting to combine the study of History, with the study of a language and its cultural environment at a very high level.

NB: Please also be advised that Dr. Melissa Calaresu, who will be leading the afternoon History Session, will be available to accompany up to 20 students on a tour of the Feast and Fast exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum,  at the close of the masterclass. Dr. Calaresu is one of the curators of the exhibition. Please sign up for the visit upon arrival.
