The Suicide Archive - Doyle Calhoun at Heffers Bookshop

Description:

Doyle Calhoun will discuss his new book, The Suicide Archive: Reading Resistance in the Wake of French Empire, in which he reads suicide as a political language of resistance to French colonialism. Noting the occlusion of sucidal protest from historical record, he draws attention to the power aesthetic forms - films and literature - have to preserve these narratives of pain, courage and loss.

There will be the opportunity for book signing.
