Cambridge Undergraduate Conference in German Studies
27th-28th February 2026, Trinity Hall
At the end of February we held the annual Cambridge Undergraduate Conference in German Studies, which was full to capacity.
For our keynote discussion, the author, academic, and journalist, Dr Mithu Sanyal spoke to Dr Tara Talwar Windsor about her recent novel, Anti-Christie, and over the two days, we heard research presentations delivered by undergraduate students from across Britain and Ireland. Each panel was chaired by a member of the German Section.
Friday 27th February was our Schools Day. Dr Marcus Tomalin led a workshop for our schools attendees on literature interpretation and Dr Charlotte Lee ran a workshop on literature interpretation for students from Year 13. Teachers were able to attend a CPD workshop delivered by Dr Rachel Hawkes on the USPs of German. The CPD workshop was offered in hybrid form, and so we were joined by dozens of other teachers from all around the country. All attendees were also able to attend a careers panel.
On Saturday 28th February, Dr Leila Mukhida spoke about applying for postgraduate study, and five undergraduate students presented posters about their research.
We would like to offer heartfelt thank you to the Undergraduate Committee, all our participants, and our hosts at Trinity Hall, as well as our funders: the Schröder Fund, the DAAD, and the D.H. Green Fund. We were delighted to have such a good turnout, and we hope the event was enjoyed by all our attendees.
