MMLL Alumna Debuts on BBC Radio 3
We are delighted to share that MMLL alumna Jade Cuttle (BBC New Generation Thinker 2024) has made her debut as a radio presenter on BBC Radio 3. In her latest programme, Jade interviews her first supervisor of Russian Literature at Cambridge, Dr Alyson Tapp (Clare).
Exploring Landscapes and Creativity
In this broadcast, Jade explores the inspiring parallels between the Russian steppe and the Cambridge fens, reflecting on how specific landscapes can shape the creative process. The programme features:
- Dr Alyson Tapp: Discussing the literary intersections of Russian and English landscapes.
Robert Macfarlane (Emmanuel): Jade’s current PhD supervisor, highlighting how her experiences with MMLL courses and faculty inspired her AHRC-funded nature poetry research.

Looking Ahead
Excitingly, Jade is set to present further Radio 3 programmes next year following her PhD submission. Among her upcoming projects, she is hoping to develop a feature reflecting on Vladimir Nabokov’s Bend Sinister and the concept of “literary puddles,” potentially reuniting with Dr Tapp to explore these themes further.
We are thrilled to celebrate Jade’s achievements and look forward to hearing more from her on the airwaves in 2025!
