The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics is delighted to announce the IV Roberto Gerhard Annual Lecture on Catalan Cultures, taking place on Wednesday 13 May at Fitzwilliam College’s Upper Halls.
This year’s guest speaker is acclaimed Catalan novelist Pol Guasch, whose novel Napalm in the Heart — described as a queer, post-apocalyptic chef d’oeuvre — was published in the UK by Faber & Faber to widespread critical acclaim and was named one of the best books of the year by The New Yorker. Guasch will discuss his work in conversation with MMLL PhD student William Kirby.
The lecture forms part of the Roberto Gerhard Annual Lectures on Catalan Cultures, which have become a distinctive opportunity to bring some of the most remarkable voices in Catalan culture to Cambridge, celebrating the rich connections between Catalan cultures, the University, and the city of Cambridge.
The event is free and open to all. A wine reception will follow the lecture.
Date: Wednesday 13 May
Venue: Fitzwilliam College Upper Halls
Admission: Free and open to everyone
All are warmly encouraged to attend and to share the event with colleagues, students, and friends.
