Tiancheng Hu, a PhD student in Computation, Cognition and Language at the University of Cambridge, has contributed as a Section Writer to the International AI Safety Report 2026, a major international publication examining the current state of artificial intelligence systems .
The report is an international effort chaired by Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio and brings together contributors from more than 30 countries. Tiancheng was the only University of Cambridge researcher selected for the Writing Group and co-authored the section titled “Current Capabilities,” which assesses the abilities and limitations of today’s AI systems.
The report was released this week and has received international media coverage, including in The Guardian.
