The Poetics of Tao: French-Chinese Dialogues on Poetry, Art, and the Limits of Subjectivity took place on 22 November 2025 at Wolfson College, Cambridge. The conference brought together an international group of scholars to explore the dialogue between Taoist thought and modern French philosophy, literature, and visual art. Across keynote lectures and two thematic panels, discussions addressed topics including negative poetics, Daoist conceptions of emptiness, transformations of subjectivity in the Zhuangzi, and the role of naturalness in cross-cultural philosophy. The event created a dynamic space for interdisciplinary exchange and highlighted the contemporary relevance of Taoist ideas within French and comparative studies. The conference was generously supported in part by the French Section of MMLL. Speakers included Xiaofan Amy Li, Xie Bo, Heejung Seo-Reich, Claude Romano, Cécile Malaspina, and Ruoshui Zhang.
