The Society for French Studies announced that the winner of the 2025 R. Gapper Postgraduate Essay Prize is Isabel Maloney (University of Cambridge), for her essay, entitled ‘The Communard Family in Léon Cladel’s Censored Short Fiction’.
The Jury adjudged ‘From Dragons to Divinators: Re-Imagining Muslim Women in the Old French Crusade Cycle’, by Saaleha Iqbal (University of Leeds), to be the runner up.
We warmly congratulate both authors.
The award includes:
- a cash prize of £750;
- expenses-paid travel to the next annual conference of the Society for French Studies;
- mention in the French Studies Bulletin and on the Society for French Studies website
