Strings of Imagination: Rethinking Pinocchio in the New Millennium
25-26 October 2024: In-person international conference at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, United States. The event will gather leading scholars and emerging researchers whose work touches upon Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio and its afterlives in the new millennium, across different media, languages and cultures.
The event will feature an artistic performance by Italian illustrator Alessandro Sanna and four keynote speakers: Prof. Laura Tosi (Ca’ Foscari – University of Venice), Anna Kraczyna, translator of The Adventures of Pinocchio, Prof. Luca Viganò (King’s College London) and Prof. Massimo Riva (Brown University). The conference is sponsored by the Department of Italian Studies at Brown University, with the support of the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi, the Cambridge Research Network for Fairy-Tale Studies and the Ragusa Foundation for the Humanities in New York.

Pinocchio’s Strings: Critical and Creative Encounters
4 December 2024 at 17.30 pm: In-person event in the Fellows’ Drawing Room at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, with Italian photographer and visual artist Erminia De Luca.
Erminia De Luca is a Milan-based artist originally from Apulia, Italy. In 2023, she has published the book Ora dipende da te (Now It’s Up to You), inspired by Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. The event will involve a performative reading from her book and will be followed by a drink reception.
