Students report exceptional support from MMLL library in a recent University-wide library survey, highlighting the value of its staff and the role the library plays in supporting study and research across the Faculty.
The feedback emerged from the Cambridge Libraries and Archives (CULA) survey conducted at the end of Lent Term. The survey invited students, academic staff and professional services staff to reflect on their experiences across the libraries they use.
Within the MMLL Library responses, users expressed strong appreciation for the support, expertise and day-to-day interactions provided by library staff. The feedback has been warmly received by the team and recognised more widely across the University.
The results were reviewed internally by the MMLL Library team as part of their ongoing work to understand user experience and identify areas for future development. While aspects such as buildings, finances and wider policy frameworks are shaped at institutional level, the survey highlighted the importance of the library’s direct engagement with its community.
Reflecting on the results, MMLL Librarian Hélène Fernandes noted that the feedback was particularly meaningful because it recognised the human side of library work and the relationships built with users throughout the academic year.
The comments also offered an encouraging reminder of the central role the library continues to play within Faculty life — not only as a place for collections and study, but as a welcoming and supportive environment for students and colleagues.
The Faculty congratulates the MMLL Library team on this recognition and thanks all members of the community who took part in the survey and shared their feedback.
