We are delighted to share that Tobias (Toby) Barnett, a fourth-year PhD candidate in the French Section, has been awarded the Paragraph Prize for Best Article of 2023/24 for his publication ‘Catherine Malabou’s Historical Epistemology’.
Published in Paragraph: A Journal of Modern Critical Theory, the article examines Catherine Malabou’s contribution to the field of historical epistemology, offering a fresh perspective on how philosophy engages with social and political change. The piece is now available to read open access via Edinburgh University Press.
The article has also attracted wider scholarly recognition. It will be reviewed in the upcoming issue of The Year’s Work in Critical and Cultural Theory (Oxford University Press), where its contribution to contemporary critical theory is discussed in depth. The review is currently accessible online.
Toby is currently completing his doctoral research in French thought within the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, and also serves as Postgraduate Officer for the Society for French Studies.
