Applications are now open for the 2026 residential Summer Schools at Selwyn College, offering Year 12 students the opportunity to experience university life and explore subjects at degree level — including a dedicated Language, History and Culture stream.
The programme forms part of Selwyn’s widening participation and outreach work, designed to encourage talented students from a broad range of backgrounds to consider higher education and gain insight into studying at the University of Cambridge.
Participants on the Language, History and Culture stream will have the chance to experience Cambridge-style teaching through academic sessions and small-group discussions, while also getting a taste of student life. The residential programme includes accommodation and meals at no cost to participants, creating an accessible opportunity for students to explore university study in an immersive environment.
Alongside subject sessions, students will meet current undergraduates, explore Cambridge, and gain insight into the academic and social experience of university life. Summer schools are designed not only to introduce students to new ideas and ways of thinking, but also to build confidence and help demystify the application process.
Travel bursaries will also be available for eligible students, including those receiving Free School Meals, students from lower-income households, young people in care, and those who are estranged from their families.
Applications are currently open and close on Monday 25 May at 9am, with applicants expected to hear outcomes in early June.
