Thursday, 20 February 2020, 7.30pm

We invite you to a dramatic theatrical reading of Adam Mickiewicz's epic poem Pan Tadeusz (1834) with live musical interludes performed on the piano (from Chopin and other Polish composers).

The performance will be in the original Polish with English translation projected onto a screen together with a series of images by Polish painters. The performance will conclude with a traditional Polonaise dance.

The readers will include Polish students from the University of Cambridge and members of the Cambridge Polish community. Musical performance by pianist Matthew Gibson.

The performance is directed by Professor Patrick Boyde, who has also adapted Pan Tadeusz for the reading, with a particular emphasis on the love stories.

The event will conclude with a reception and presentation of an exhibition of paintings by local artists inspired by passages from Pan Tadeusz.

The event will be staged twice: on February 19 and 20, at 7.30pm. Please choose one evening and reserve a free ticket (required) via Eventbrite.
