Cambridge can be daunting at first, but there are a lot of guides to help you get the most out of the University and your subject and to make studying here as stress-free as possible. These are a few of our favourite resources. If you’d like to suggest any others, get in touch with us at library@mmll.cam.ac.uk.
LibGuides
LibGuides are online resources created by Cambridge librarians to share information about the services they offer and help you get the most out of their collections. MMLL maintains three LibGuides:
Modern & Medieval Languages and Linguistics (MMLL) Linguistics Film & Screen Studies
We also recommend looking at the LibGuide on ebooks: ebooks@cambridge: Find ebooks
For students new to Cambridge, we recommend the Library Essentials LibGuide.
You can find a full list of LibGuides here.
For additional information on eresources in general, including articles, journals and databases, visit the eresources website.
CamGuides
CamGuides is an open access resource for students arriving at Cambridge (both undergraduates and Master's students), designed to help you hit the ground running. It’s got information on finding your way around, accessing resources, managing your digital presence and much more besides. Whilst it’s primarily aimed at new undergraduates, taught Master’s students, and new PhD students, it’s got a lot of useful information for everybody, no matter how far along your academic journey you are.
CiteThemRight
Referencing correctly is important, so the University subscribes to CiteThemRight. No matter what you’re writing and what style sheet you’re using, you can find comprehensive referencing information here. If you want to know more, the MMLL Library offers training in referencing and avoiding plagiarism, or you can ask us at the Information Desk.
