Cambridge Russian Studies (CRS)
Cambridge Russian Studies is an academic programme of the Slavonic Section of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge. It aims to promote the study of Russian and Russophone language, literature, film, culture, history, politics and thought, and to support the development of this study across the United Kingdom and worldwide.
At the heart of Cambridge Russian Studies is a dynamic team of scholars with expertise in Russian studies from the early modern, imperial and Soviet eras to the present day. The programme offers a wide array of undergraduate courses and houses a vibrant community of PhD and MPhil students. At all levels it seeks to promote cutting-edge research that advances the public understanding of Russia.
Cambridge Russian Studies is committed to interdisciplinary exchange with scholars throughout the University, both those working directly in Russian studies across the humanities and social sciences, and those for whom this exchange opens up new pathways in other fields. It actively collaborates with the Cambridge Committee for Central and East European and Eurasian Studies (CamCCEEES) and the University’s Centre for Geopolitics on public-facing events including an annual series of lectures by international scholars working across a range of disciplines.
As part of the Slavonic Section, Cambridge Russian Studies maintains strong scholarly and pedagogical links with Cambridge Polish Studies and Cambridge Ukrainian Studies.
