Cambridge Ukrainian Studies and Cambridge Polish Studies, in conjunction with HREC (Canada) and AUGB (UK) are pleased to announce that this year’s Twelfth Annual Festival of Ukrainian Film will feature the 2019 drama film ‘Mr. Jones’ directed by Agnieszka Holland and starring James Norton, Vanessa Kirby and Peter Sarsgaard. The film loosely tells the story of Gareth Jones, a University of Cambridge Graduate and Welsh journalist, who in 1933 broke the news in the western media of the Holodomor (death by starvation) - the man-made famine in the Soviet Union under Stalin. Jones unofficially travelled to Ukraine and risked his name and reputation to report on the Ukrainian genocide during which millions of people perished.

Register for the event here.
