We are honoured to welcome Virlana Tkacz and Waldemart Klyuzko to deliver the the Ninth Annual Cambridge Vsesvit Evening on Thursday 9 May 2019 . A lecture with images, entitled KURBAS: 1920s Avant-garde Theatre in Ukraine , will take place in St Catherine’s College Ramsden Room at 5.30pm . Dr Ulana Suprun , the Minister of Health of Ukraine, will deliver the 17th Annual Cambridge Stasiuk Lecture in Contemporary Ukrainian Studies at the University of Cambridge on Friday, 1 March 2019 at 5.30pm . The lecture entitled Inspiring Social Transformation – From Soviet Decay to a National Health Service for Ukraine will take place in the Theatre of Peterhouse College.

Cambridge Explores Ukraine’s ‘Multilinguality’

On 19 October 2018, Cambridge hosted the international conference Engaging Multilinguality: Language, Identity and National Cohesion in Ukraine , which was funded by the AHRC-funded project ‘Multilingualism: Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies’ (MEITS) with support from Cambridge Ukrainian Studies. Convened by Rory Finnin and Ivan Kozachenko, the conference sought to examine language diversity in Ukraine from a host of disciplinary perspectives.

Cambridge Ukrainian Studies in 2018-19: Exciting Transitions

Dr Olenka Pevny is succeeding Dr Rory Finnin as Director of the Cambridge Ukrainian Studies programme from 2 October 2018. Finnin, who will be on sabbatical leave from 2018-20 to complete a series of research projects, is the Founding Director of Cambridge Ukrainian Studies, an academic centre launched in 2008 to advance new approaches to the study of Ukraine.

Rory Finnin Wins Two ASEEES Book Prizes

We are delighted to share that Professor Rory Finnin has been awarded two prestigious prizes by the Association for Slavic, East European & Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) for his book Blood of Others: Stalin's Crimean Atrocity and the Poetics of Solidarity (University of Toronto Press, 2022). These ASEEES prizes follow on from two other awards for Blood of Others announced earlier this year.
