Research Topic: Censorship in the Third Republic
About
Before starting her PhD, Isabel completed her BA and MPhil at the University of Cambridge and held the Henry Fellowship at Yale University.
Research
Isabel’s research focuses on how cultures of censorship altered the narrative logic of French novels in the second half of the nineteenth century. She is particularly interested in how politically motivated narrative omissions are connected to the period’s aesthetic fixation on sexual transgression.
Scholarships/Prizes
Isabel’s doctoral research is funded by an AHRC Open-Oxford-Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership Studentship.
