Research Topic: Italiano, brava lingua?: The Complex Role of Italian in the Recounting of the Holocaust

About

Adelaide is a PhD candidate in Italian at Clare College. Her primary research focus is Italian women’s Holocaust testimony. She is also interested in exploring the links between traumatic memory and language in Holocaust testimonies given in Italian by non-native speakers of Italian. In June 2022 Adelaide completed her MPhil at Cambridge, and her dissertation addressed the relationship between the dehumanization and de-gendering of concentration camp inmates, using Italian survivor testimonies. Before beginning her studies at Cambridge, Adelaide received her BA in History and Italian from the University of Virginia.
