Dr Emanuela Davey

Dr Emanuela Davey completed her studies in Italy, specializing in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures, with a doctorate thesis on the process of estrangement in Joseph Roth’s life and work, in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in Milan, where she started lecturing before coming to England. She continued to work in the field of Philology and History of Italian language and grammar while teaching classes for and examining every Italian language paper in the Part I and Part II MML Tripos, and supervising students for most of the colleges in the University of Cambridge. A member of the Modern and Medieval Languages Faculty and an Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Italian, she is currently Director of Studies in Italian and Modern Greek at Murray Edwards College.

Alongside modern languages and late XIX and XX century literature, her other interests include history of art, theatre and cinema. Apart from being a free-lance translator, she also develops, runs and assesses courses on Italian language and culture for other institutions in the University of Cambridge.
