Austrian Cinema Conference

Picturing Austrian Cinema, a research symposium convened by Dr Frederick Baker and Dr Annie Ring, and organised with the help of
Rafael Dernbach and Stephan Hilpert, was held at St John's College, Cambridge and the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse between 21 and 23
September 2014. In a collaboration between the Austrian Film Institute and the University of Cambridge, the symposium was attended by film
scholars, producers and industry spokespeople from the UK, Austria and the USA, and by filmmakers Ruth Beckermann and Jessica Hausner, both
of whom offered a film for screening and discussion with the audience.
A further presentation was contributed by Michael Haneke. The events closed with the premiere of The Return of Harry Lime by Frederick
Baker, a historic first projection of any film onto the Bridge of Sighs.
