About German Outreach at Cambridge
The Cambridge German Network aims to support the teaching and learning of the German language, to facilitate contacts between institutions interested in German culture and to promote the collaboration of academic and business partners. The Network was originally founded as part of the German Embassy’s Think German Network in 2015.
We work on outreach events with the wider Faculty as well as organising our own events and visits. Outreach activities include:
- The annual Cambridge Undergraduate Conference in German Studies, which has a specific schools strand (March)
- Participation in Faculty and University Open Days (March and July)
- Visits to schools both nearby and further away (on request)
- School German Clubs (on request)
- Adopt-A-Class (pilot scheme)
- German Film Day (September)
The German section has its own part-time Outreach Coordinator, so get in touch if you’d like us to visit you, participate in an event you’re involved with, or collaborate in any other way!

How COGS works
For teachers looking for materials
Whether you need a brief revision exercise for part of a lesson, or a longer programme of materials around which to structure part of your teaching, you should find something to help you.
For teachers wishing to share materials
If you'd like to share some of your materials, please contact the Outreach Coordinator for German.
Resources for Teachers
Information for Teachers at Primary level
The German Section is interested in establishing links with schools in our region where German is taught at primary level, or where there is an interest in doing so. We would like to hear from you with a view to encouraging links between primary and secondary schools and members of the department.

The Key Stage 4 resource bundle contains vocabulary, literature, and grammar exercises put together by German teachers and German Section staff on the topics of history, culture, and music.
