About:

Teresa Parodi specialises in language acquisition, specifically in the acquisition of grammar in monolingual first language acquisition, simultaneous bilingualism, second language acquisition by children and by adults. Her work is based on corpus and experimental data, drawing on generative grammar. Her recent research focuses on the role of formal features, e.g. in child Spanish relatives and degree clauses, in the acquisition of second position clitics and of focus features in adult L2. She has published on these topics in journals such as Second Language Research and Language Acquisition. She has also written overview articles on these topics in the Routledge Linguistics Encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics and the Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics. She is one of the members of the Cambridge Bilingualism Network., an outreach initiative with the aim of increasing awareness about the benefits and challenges of bilingualism by disseminating state-of-the-art research findings and by building interactive support networks between researchers, teachers, clinicians and parents of bilingual children
