About Me

Fangyu is a 2nd-year PhD student in NLP at the Language Technology Lab, University of Cambridge, supervised by Professor Nigel Collier. He is recently working on three things:
   1. multi-modality: connecting language with knowledge and perception;
   2. self-supervision: specialising language models without (human) labels;
   3. interpretability: what’s encoded/missing in (pre-)trained model weights?
He is a member of Clare Hall and a Trust Scholar funded by Grace & Thomas C.H. Chan Cambridge Scholarship. Besides Cambridge, he also spent time doing research at Amazon, EPFL, and the University of Waterloo.
