Professor Kasia Jaszczolt, D.Phil. (Oxon), PhD (Cantab), MAE holds a D.Phil. in Linguistics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford (1992) for the thesis on belief sentences and the semantics of propositional attitude reports. She joined the University of Cambridge in 1995, first as Assistant Lecturer, then Lecturer, Reader, and since 2010 Professor of Linguistics and Philosophy of Language. She has also taught at the universities of Oxford, Brighton and Sussex. Her research interests combine semantics, pragmatics, and philosophy of language and include such research areas as the semantics/pragmatics interface, ambiguity and underspecification, defaults and conventions in discourse, the semantics and metaphysics of time, and propositional attitude constructions, including attitudes de se and indexicality. She is the author of a theory of discourse interpretation called Default Semantics.

Kasia Jaszczolt is managing editor of book series Oxford Studies of Time in Language and Thought (Oxford University Press) and Current Research in the Semantics/Pragmatics Interface (CRiSPI, Elsevier, 1996-2008), member of numerous editorial boards including Journal of Pragmatics, Intercultural Pragmatics, book series Studies in Pragmatics. In 2012 she was elected Member of Academia Europaea and in 2015 Alumnus VIP, University of Łódź. She is also Professorial Fellow of Newnham College. She is currently working on a monograph on the philosophy of time and the semantics of temporal reference and on the second edition of her book Semantics and Pragmatics: Meaning in Language and Discourse for Cambridge University Press.
