Computational and Corpus Linguistics

Course Convenors: Prof Anna Korhonen and Dr Dora Alexopoulou

The Computational and Corpus Linguistics seminar in Lent will cover advanced topics in the areas of Computational Linguistics and Corpus Linguistics. Individual seminar topics will be selected in response to recent research developments in these areas. Some of the sessions will be organised as a reading club. These sessions will consist of general introduction followed by an in-depth examination of some particular piece of research described in one or more papers. Readings are typically brief research articles, and will be made available in advance.  Each student will select one or two to summarise to the rest of the class. Other sessions will introduce useful tools, techniques, or datasets for research involving corpora. There is no mathematical prerequisite for the course but students following this seminar should ideally also attend Li18 (Computational Linguistics).
