Catalan Students at the House of Commons

Catalan students at the House of Commons

On Monday, May 15, a group of students and lecturers of Catalan Studies visited the Houses of Parliament invited by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Catalonia, to discuss the importance of learning minoritized languages in a globalized world. After a private tour conducted by Chris Bambery, the group was greeted by several MPs who participated in the working session. The four MMLL students that attended the event shared their personal experiences, explained why they chose to learn Catalan, and how they see the future of the language. The students also reflected on what they have learnt about Catalan culture and how this distinct curricular pathway enriched their vision of Europe’s cultural and linguistic heritage.
