Students in Years 11 and 12 are invited to join Cambridge Slavonic Studies for a virtual taster day. This online event is free. Please book HERE in advance. Booking will remain open until midday on Friday 9th July.
Programme
11:00am - Welcome and Introduction: Dr Rory Finnin, Associate Professor in Ukrainian Studies
Learn about the Slavonic Studies Section and the many academic pursuits that the University of Cambridge makes possible. Explore Russian as part of the degree in Modern and Medieval Languages and as part of the new joint degree in Russian and History.
11:15am - Russian Language Taster Session: Dr Anna Schneider; Mr Stefan Lacny
Experience a Russian language lesson designed for those who may have some Russian (GCSE or A’level) or no Russian at all. Whatever your starting point, you will be sure to learn something new!
12:00pm - Break
12:15pm - Presentation: Professor Emma Widdis, Professor of Russian and Film Studies
Take part in a mini-lecture about the importance of the humanities to the understanding of today's Russia, with vivid examples from literature and film
1:15pm - Q&A with Cambridge undergrads.
