New Publication: Racine's Tragedies of Tyranny

The third in a series of books devoted to the theatre of Jean Racine, co-edited by Professor Nicholas Hammond, has just been published. Entitled Racine's Tragedies of Tyranny, and devoted to the two plays Bajazet and Mithridate, both first performed in 1672, the book contains essays by a number of people currently in the French Section or with strong connections to the Faculty. In addition to pieces by Nick Hammond, Emeritus Professor of French Michael Moriarty, and Dr Emilia Wilton-Godberfforde, there are pieces by former students Joseph Harris and Mark Austin and by former lecturer Henry Phillips.
