Two 2023 Gates Cambridge Scholars to study in MMLL

We are thrilled to share that two Cambridge Gates Scholars will be studying MMLL subjects next year. We welcome Briseyda Barrientos Ariza and Angello Alcazar.

Angello Alcazar will be pursuing a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese and Briseyda Ariza is pursuing an MPhil in European, Latin American, and Comparative Literatures and Cultures.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established through a US$210 million donation to the University of Cambridge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. Scholars from across disciplines are chosen for not only their academic excellence, but their ability to pursue and achieve wider social impact. The programme aims build social leadership and collaboration across academic disciplines with the hope that these scholars will be equipped to tackle the  complex global challenges we face. The scholars are truly diverse, with 112 countries, 700 universities and 80 academic departments represented since the first class in 2001.
