The Next Generation of Linguists is Buzzing

On Friday 30 June and Monday 3 July, MML and the University of Cambridge were proud to hold two very exciting events for language lovers. 62,455 students competed in the National Modern Languages Spelling Bee, with 104 participating in the final event on Friday. Monday’s Translation Bee saw the final 45 students down from the initial 16,910 who began in the competition.

For the fourth year in a row, MML participated and excelled in the 'Cambridge Green Challenge' awards. We are pleased to announce that this year we have won the Green Impact Excellence award in recognition of our collaboration with Newnham Croft Primary School.

Become Heroes of Our Time

Join us for a special outreach event for secondary school students in Years 11 and 12. Learn about the Department of Slavonic Studies and the many academic pursuits that the University of Cambridge makes possible. Explore Russian as part of the degree in Modern and Medieval Languages and as part of the new joint degree in Russian and History. This event will take place on Saturday, 1 July 2017.

Cambridge Celebrates Teaching with the Pilkington Prize

We're very pleased to share this video celebrating Dr Martin Ruehl's Pilkington Prize. Each year the Pilkington Prize is awarded to teachers from across the University who have made a substantial contribution to the teaching programme of their Department, Faculty or the University as a whole. This year, Dr Ruehl joined 12 others to receive this distinction.

Cambridge Conversations in Translation: Translation & Multimodality

The final event in the Cambridge Conversations in Translation (CCiT) series will be held on Friday 26 May. This one-day event will run from 11AM - 4PM and feature a mix of presentations and workshops. There will be ample opportunity for discussion and interaction with experts on multimodality, translators and artists from various fields, including music, dance, performance and the visual arts. CIRN Symposium

The Cambridge Italian Research Network's annual interdisciplinary research symposium brings together researchers working on Italy from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives to discuss a single overarching theme or question. Now in its fifth year, the 2017 symposium will take place in Jesus College on 19 May 2017 and will explore the theme of 'Crime and Punishment.'
