Victoria Adams

Victoria’s key responsibilities include managing the Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan and Italian collections in the library. She also takes care of the library’s finances, ensuring the invoices for the books and DVDs the library receives get paid on time. She is very happy to help with any referencing doubts or research questions relating to her subject specialties.

Having studied Spanish and Portuguese at undergraduate level, Victoria has a passion for the study of modern languages. Building on this interest, she has recently completed a PhD in the Spanish and Portuguese Section of MMLL that investigates how questions of memory are negotiated in contemporary Rio de Janeiro using digital media. Victoria has published on this subject in peer-reviewed journals and is currently working to transform her PhD thesis into a book manuscript for Legenda. If you are interested, you can find information about her research on her academic profile on the MMLL website.

Throughout her PhD, Victoria lectured, supervised, and led seminars on a range of papers in the Portuguese Section of MMLL. In 2022, she became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In addition, Victoria has worked as a translator and is eager to make art and research produced in Brazil accessible to international audiences.

Outside of work, Victoria enjoys practising yoga and watching DVDs that she has borrowed from the MMLL library.
