On Friday 28 March, MMLL students Anjola Adesina and Ava Rourke, accompanied by Professor Christophe Gagne and Dr. Emilia Wilton-Godberfforde, joined attendees from fourteen other British universities for the final selection and prize giving of the 2025 Choix Goncourt UK. This is the sixth year that the prize has been given. This time the shortlisted authors and works of the prestigious Académie Goncourt were Houris by Kamel Daoud, Jacaranda by Gaël Faye, Archipels by Hélène Gaudy, Madelaine avant l’aube by Sandrine Collette. After the students' discussion and selection, this year's prize went to Gaël Faye.

This year's Choix Goncourt UK was a collaboration between the Higher Education, Research and Innovation Department at the French Embassy, the Maison Française d’Oxford, the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and the French bookshop La Page with the support of the Académie Goncourt.
