The German Section was delighted to welcome back Dr Simon Pickl, from the Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg, to give this year’s D H Green lecture.
Dr Pickl spoke on the history of the genitive case in spoken German, looking at differences between usage in speech and grammar prescriptions.
A key researcher in Historical Sociolinguistics, Simon previously spent two years in Cambridge as a Feodor Lynen Fellow working on historical corpora of German, with a special interest in regional variation and language change.
