Intersections: Between Music and Theatre in Seicento Italy

This two-day conference, exploring the connections between theatre and music in seventeenth-century Italy, will be held on Thursday 20th September and Friday 21st September 2018 in the Conference Room SR24 of the Faculty of English on the Sidgwick Site of the University of Cambridge.

We are excited to welcome Prof. Richard Andrews (University of Leeds), Prof. Antonio Rostagno (Università degli Studi di Roma ‘La Sapienza’), and Dr Lisa Sampson (University College London) as our keynote speakers.

The conference programme will include a Commedia dell’Arte acting workshop with director Ludovico Nolfi and a fully-staged performance of Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda (1624) in Clare College Chapel. Both events are free and open to the public.

Conference registration will close by Wednesday 12th September 2018. There is a registration fee to cover refreshments: the full delegate fee is £40 and the graduate student fee is £20. Discounts are available for RMA members. We regret to inform you that the registration fee is not refundable in case of cancellation. 

Spaces for workshop, concert, and conference dinner can be booked when registering for the conference. The workshop and concert can be booked free of charge.
