'Narratives of the Nineteenth Century: New Directions', a cross-faculty book launch & research workshop

A cross-faculty book launch & research workshop, featuring Italian Section’s Prof Helena Sanson. She will appear on the second panel, discussing her current research.

Thursday 27 April, 12:45–4:00 pm at Gonville & Caius College, Senior Parlour. Free & open to all, with lunch provided

Join and engage with the work of Cambridge faculty and early-career researchers working across nineteenth-century literatures and cultures. In celebrating recent publications and work in progress, they hope to ask:

• How have new methods and theories informed our approaches to narrating the nineteenth century?

• What is gained—and lost—from the assumptions undergirding our various disciplinary perspectives?

• How might more transcultural and multilingual perspectives trouble or expand those ways of thinking?

Panel One: Book Launch - 1-2:15 pm

Dr Anna Berman (Slavonic)

  • Response by Prof Nick White (French)

Dr Marcus Waithe (English)

  • Response by Dr Claire White (French)

Panel Two: Current Research - 2:30-3:45 pm

  • Prof Helena Sanson (Italian)
  • Dr Edmund Birch (French)
  • Dr Mathelinda Nabugodi (English & Fitzwilliam Museum)
