The Italian Section is delighted to announce the publication of a new edited volume by Professor Helena Sanson, Women and Translation in the Italian Tradition (Paris, Classiques Garnier, 2022, 449 pp.).

Our current knowledge of women’s engagement and roles in the history of translation is fragmented. This themed collection of essays aims to redress this gap in our knowledge by focusing on the relationship between women and translation in the Italian linguistic and cultural tradition from the late fifteenth century to the present. This book offers fresh and invaluable insights into women’s involvement in the activity of translation, revealing a rich and fascinating history of scholarship and creativity. Also, by highlighting still unexplored avenues of investigation, it aims to encourage further research on this topic both in the context of Italy and beyond. The volume includes essays in English and Italian.
