On Friday 8 November, Max Holden (Cambridge) and Zoe Christie (Exeter) joined an event organised by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Goethe Institut in London for the launch of 'Wuschel auf der Erde: A New Adventure in Learning German'. Both students are Ambassadors on the Young Goethe Scheme, which pairs students in German with younger learners in schools.
The book, written by Christiane Günther and Andrea Schweizer and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, is aimed at primary school students. It tells the story of Wuschel, a friendly alien who arrives on Earth with a singular purpose: to learn German. The Goethe Institut commissioned the book and has made it available to UK schools alongside German lesson plans and audio teaching aids.
