Croatian Author Magdalena Blažević in Conversation at Heffers Bookshop

The Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages and Linguistics is pleased to share details of an upcoming literary event hosted by independent publisher Linden Editions and Heffers Bookshop.

On Thursday 11 September, Croatian author Magdalena Blažević will join Burhan Sönmez, President of International PEN and acclaimed novelist, for an evening discussion to mark the English publication of her debut novel In Late Summer.

Set during the Bosnian War, In Late Summer is told from the perspective of a 14-year-old girl killed in the August 1993 massacre. Combining poetic imagery of everyday village life with the stark brutality of conflict, Blažević’s novel offers a moving and powerful reflection on memory, loss, and survival.
