Radek Rochowiak wins first place in Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language.

RR

Slavonic Studies would like to congratulate second year student Radek Rochowiak who entered and won first place in the Second International Russian as a Foreign language Online Olympiad (organised by St Petersburg University in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Education). A great achievement!

The Olympiad was held in two rounds (qualifying and final round) November 5, 2020 - December 13, 2020; participants were split into two age categories: 12-16 and 17-30. In total, more than 9500 participants from 147 countries took part in the competition. Further information can be found here.

‘The goal of the event is to popularise and render support to the Russian language, to increase the significance of Russian as a language of international communication.’

‘This Olympiad is not just a challenging platform where the strongest always win, and they are worthy of our pride. By and large, we have initiated an event to encourage those who once decided to study this
rich, imaginative and meaningful language either for their hobby, or for their mission, undergo evaluation, and covet for further stimuli to study, broaden the horizons and challenges to be reached for and
overcome.’
